*** SUBMISSIONS FOR NEW ARTISTS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED***
Are you and artist looking to have your products sold in shop? Here at Little Shop of Strange, we are constantly sourcing new artists. We take a lot of pride in supporting the local art community and have worked out different ways for artists to get their work into our shop! First things first, you'll want to sit down with your art and make sure it meets all of our guidelines. Our guidelines are as follows;
A) A lot of artists are not aware of this, but it is very illegal to take bones, seashells, antlers, driftwood, rocks, road kill or anything else from nature and use these items in your work. We only accept Taxidermy from 1932 and earlier. Unless you have paperwork, we won't be taking items of this nature. We also don't support hunting animals.
B) We are a family oriented business and some of our regular clients are as young as six years old! We ask that all art that comes in is brought in with our clientele in mind. We are the Little Shop of STRANGE! Not the Little Shop of Holy F#$% that offended me and ill never return again. There is a VERY fine line between STRANGE and SCARY. We aren't a scary store.
C) We won't be pulling on any art or oddities with a negative message or purpose. You will not find ouija boards, magic wands, tarot cards or pentagrams and such in our shop. We value our neighbours and customers. We refer people to the awesome store next door, Avalon, if they are in the market for goods like this.
D) And finally, our last guideline. If you art consists of up cycled-once garbage, thats awesome! Way to save our landfills and bring value to someones trash. We will not however accept art that has sloppy glue, blood, needles, unsanitary materials or with a foul stench. Most of the work in shop has been up cycled. If you wouldn't buy it, most likely someone else won't either.
If you are unsure if your art would be accepted or not, please take some photos and email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. DO NOT COME INTO THE SHOP WITH YOUR WORK OR PHOTOS OF YOUR WORK! We have over 100 artists and do not have time to see everyone and help customers at the same time. If you come into the shop with photos and art taking to see the owner, you will be instantly denied.
Thank you! And #staystrange
